Second Administrative Camp At Lazu Circle

             The 2nd administrative camp was held at Lazu about 42 km from Khonsa on 23rd June ’08 under the aegis of Tirap district administration. Speaking at a well-attended meeting at the fag end of the successful camp, Habung Donyi, ADC asked the people to take full advantage of such a camp which is being conducted to bring administration closer to them adding that for economic prosperity the people have to work themselves as the government could only assist them. He appealed to the parents to take good care of their children’s education as no place can develop without proper education and assured to render all help from administration to mitigate the pressing problems the people are faced with. Donyi further asked the people to maintain cleanliness in the villages to be free from diseases and passionately appealed to them to do away with opium addiction as it has the potential to destroy the whole society. Earlier, the ADC gave away prizes to winners of Pratibha Khoj among girls, progressive farmers and Village Education Committee members. The HoDs while participating  in  the  deliberation  enlightened the villagers  on  various developmental schemes 
under their respective departments and they all appealed to the villagers to execute the schemes sincerely in order to make them effective and meaningful. The GB of Lazu demanded a regular bus service from Lazu to Khonsa and an ambulance for Lazu health centre.
                  During the camp DDSE conducted a meeting of parents and teachers and discussed at length regarding ways and means to improve the academic performance of the students. The District Fisheries Development Officer conducted a training for fish farmers of Lazu area. The ADO and DHO displayed seeds of different crops and also agricultural tools and appliances to educate the people. The DFO distributed saplings of medicinal plants free of cost. A medical camp was also conducted during the day-long camp. Dr. C. Lowang, DRCHO and Dr. H.K. Dutta, SMO successfully conducted the camp. Immunization of infants and children, anti-natal check up and collection of malarial parasite slides were done at the camp. According to the Doctors dermatitis and water borne diseases were common among the people. Medicines were also distributed free of cost.
               
               Altogether applications for 70 ST, 50 PRC,60 Income Certificates were received at the camp. Also, 26 bank accounts were opened with the Khonsa branch of SBI. A number of ration cards and birth certificates were issued to the people. Altogether applications for 70 ST, 50 PRC,60 Income

The administrative camp was a huge success in terms of creating awareness among the people regarding activities of the departments.
